Setting up Push

Push takes a minute to set up. A short introduction explains the score, asks for access to Apple Health, and reminds you to turn on Sleep Focus. After that, the only thing left to do is wear your watch to bed.

The introduction

PageWhat it covers
WelcomeFree, all of it: no subscription, no ads, nothing locked. Worked out on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded.
One NumberA Recovery Score from 0 to 100, in four bands.
Six SignalsWhat Push reads overnight, compared with your own baseline.
It Never LeavesNo account, no server, nothing to opt out of.
Reading From HealthAsks for Apple Health access. Push reads Health and never writes back.
Turn On Sleep FocusWrist temperature is only recorded while Sleep Focus is on.

Connecting Apple Health

When you tap through to Health, iOS shows its own permission sheet listing everything Push asks to read. Turn them all on for the full app. Anything you leave off simply stays empty in Push. A missing signal is left out of the score, never counted as zero.

If you tapped Don't Allow, the rest of the app still opens. You can change it later in the Health app under Sharing, Apps, Push, or in iPhone Settings, Privacy & Security, Health, Push. See Privacy and your data for exactly what is read.

Turn on Sleep Focus

Your Apple Watch only records wrist temperature while Sleep Focus is on. Push reads it from the first night, charts it, and explains it, but it is not part of the score. Turning Sleep Focus on is still worth it: without it, that signal stays empty.
